The Society’s Annual Program is a unified calendar for all Society sponsored events. Many are open to the general public as well as our Members. 2024 was a very full year for the AHS, with many new opportunities for our Members and friends to learn and grow together. Our 2025 Program is full of opportunities for both our members and the public to learn more about the science and art of heraldry, as well as have some fun along the way.
The 2025 Program is under construction and will be updated by the end of December 2024, check back as we are updating this page regularly.
We have five online sessions planned for our E Pluribus Unum Lecture Series, our Society Annual Meeting, and an official presence planned for the International Congress on Medieval Studies in Kalamazoo Michigan; as well as many other events sponsored by our Society Branches. For more details on local events please view our Branch pages.
We are actively seeking speakers for our 2025 Series. If you are interested, please email programs@americanheraldry.org.

Annual Meeting & Symposium
The Society holds an Annual General Meeting each year to vote on major issues, programming, the election of Society officers, and more! Beginning in 2025 we are shifting to a new format for this event. Going forward, the American Heraldry Society will hold a Symposium, which will include lectures and workshops on a variety of topics relating to Heraldry and its associated fields from Society Members and guests, in person meetings of the Board of Governors and our Committees, fun outings and excursions, a formal reception, and much more!
2026 Detroit – hosted by the Great Lakes Branch
Our first in person Annual Meeting and Symposium will be held by the Great Lakes Branch of the Society June 25th-27th, 2026. For more details including registration, accommodations, a list of sessions and speakers, as well as sponsorship and vendor opportunities, please view the event page.
International Congress on Medieval Studies
Each year the Society hosts a table as well as a sponsored session of the International Congress of Medieval Studies in Kalamazoo Michigan. This is the largest conference on the subject in North America, held annually at Western Michigan University on or about the second weekend of May, and is entering its 61st year. For information on our plans for 2026 please see the ICMS Page.

60th International Congress on Medieval Studies – Kalamazoo Michigan
May 8th-10th, 2025 (Thursday through Saturday)
Sponsored by Western Michigan University’s Medieval Institute, the International Congress on Medieval Studies is an annual gathering of thousands of scholars of the Middle Ages. The Congress embraces the study of all aspects of the Middle Ages, extending into late antique and the early modern period, including—but not limited to—history, language, literature, linguistics, art, archaeology, religion, science, medicine, music, drama, philosophy, gender, sexuality, mysticism and technology, as well as medievalism. And this, for the first time in many, HERALDRY!
Following the success of our table at last year’s 59th ICMS Exhibitor’s Hall we have been invited by the Medieval Institute to attend their next conference, not just as an exhibitor, but as a sponsoring organization. We will be holding a workshop entitled “Heraldry for Medievalists”, examining the origins and historical uses of early heraldry, as well as how to use various online and in print resources to aide in the research and preservation of heraldic items of historical significance. For more information on the 60th ICMS, including registration, lodging, and a list of sessions please visit their website.
If you are a Society Member and are presenting, attending, or are simply in the area please stop by our table, #74 in the Exhibits Hall! We are also looking for Members willing to assist in running our table, if you are interested please contact our President.
36th International Congress of Genealogical and Heraldic Sciences – Boston
The 36th International Congress of Genealogical and Heraldic Sciences was held September 24th-28th in Boston, MA. The first time ever in the United States. Sponsored by American Ancestors, especially the NEHGS Committee on Heraldry; alongside the Academie Internationale d’Heraldique; Family Search; and Brady Brim-Deforest of Balvaird. We had a large turn out from our membership at this historic event, and were privileged to have number of Society Members and Fellows presenting. Thank you to everyone who was able to attend!
