The Society is happy to announce that we are soon to offer a number of publications apart from our regular periodicals in the coming months. This page will contain information on those upcoming projects and, when the time comes, list information for preorder. We will offer these via the Society Shop, as well as at some of our in person events. alongside our other Publications.


Upcoming Periodical

The American Herald: Volume I, Issue II

“The American Herald” our Society’s academic journal will be
available in June in two parts. Vol. I, Issue II, is published under our newly revised publications guidelines and includes five articles covering topics ranging from medieval to modern heraldry, as well as American ecclesiastical and military heraldry.

All Members of the Society will receive a digital edition. US members will also receive a physical copy. Additional copies will be available for purchase to the public.

The American Herald: Volume I, Issue I

“The American Herald” our Society’s academic journal will be available in June in two parts. Vol. I, Issue I, will contain Six articles and a number of book reviews from the early days of the Journal by a number of authors, predominantly focusing on early American heraldry and other matters of Heraldic science and its associated fields.

All Members of the Society will receive a digital edition. US members will also receive a physical copy. Additional copies will be available for purchase to the public.

A Sourcebook on Medieval Heraldry

“A Sourcebook on Medieval Heraldry” is the first of the new
AHS Sourcebook Series is hoped to be a handy reference
guide to those in pursuit of academic resources relating to
heraldry. Inside you will find articles on the origins of heraldry,
a typology of heraldic documents, and an annotated
bibliography of secondary source material; paired with a short
appendix of common heraldic terms and charges. These will
be available in paperback later this summer.


Publishing with the Society

We invite those scholars learned in the subject of heraldry and its associated fields to submit articles for publication in our journal The American Herald. If you have an idea for a larger publication on the subject aimed at educating the general public on the subject or are interested in producing a publication on a more unique area of the field; please feel free to write us with your idea. Proposals are accepted via email with an attached document of around 250-500 words explaining your idea. If possible, please include a rough outline of contents or of the subjects you wish to explore in the work, alongside an initial bibliography following our publications guidelines (which may be found here).
